At 4 p.m., March 5th in City Union Mission’s Christian Life Center, multi-purpose room, Dennis Chapman will hold a press conference, along with Sgt. Dan Carney, announcing the Give 8 Ask 8 initiative to the Kansas City community.
People have been asking him what he plans to do with the money order he received from the man he helped 21 years ago. With all the talk about stimulating the economy he decided to create a stimulus for a rescue agency he respects by giving it to City Union Mission. He called Dennis Chapman, Associate Executive Director of Development of City Union Mission, telling him he wanted to donate the money to the mission and said he thought it would be great if everyone in the Kansas City area would do the same. Dennis agreed suggesting an initiative for people to rally around: Give 8 Ask 8. $8 will provide the mission with more than one day’s food for one person. It’s simple: Give $8 to City Union Mission and ask 8 of your friends to do the same. Give 8 Ask 8.
Valley View Bank, serving the local community since 1966, will handle the donations. Cash and checks can be donated at any of their 10 locations.
