News at City Union Mission

Goodbye to a Humble Servant
February 02, 2009

Patricia A. Lloyd-Land, long-time friend of City Union Mission, went home to be with her Lord, Jesus, on Saturday, January 31, 2009.

“It’s difficult to put into words all that Pat meant to us. First and foremost she loved her Lord. She was a humble partner, desiring God receive the honor for her generosity. She didn’t want the light shined on her, but rather on Christ. The love she had for her family, and the desire to impart more than just material goods helps define her life. Certainly she was a woman of great vision,” Dan Doty, Executive Director, recalls.

“Countless men, women, and children in our city have been served as a direct result of her efforts to bring lasting hope to the less fortunate. Her life will continue on, not only in her children and grandchildren, but also within our halls. We are so grateful to her and to her family for sharing her with us. We will miss our dear friend.”

Pat resided in Leawood, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon- 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, at United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe, Leawood, Kansas. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Calvary Cemetery, 6901 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Salvation Army, 3637 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64111 or City Union Mission, 1100 East 11th St., Kansas City, MO 64106, in lieu of flowers.
