Since 1924, City Union Mission has provided warm beds, nutritious food and a place of safety for thousands of men, women and children like you who need a helping hand.
Immediate Shelter Call the free Hotline for the Homeless at 816-474-4599 to find out which Kansas City shelters can provide temporary family or individual shelter for the night. The Hotline is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Shelter for Families The Mission’s Family Shelter, at 1310 Wabash Avenue in Kansas City, Mo., is a safe place for families and single women, providing a safe place to stay, nutritious meals, spiritual counsel and case management to address and help resolve some of the issues you may be facing. Activities for Young People During the school year, the Vanderberg Youth Center, at 1310 Wabash Ave., offers after-school activities for kids age 6 to 18. In the summer, kids can get away from the city by attending Camp CUMCITO (City Union Mission Camp In The Ozarks, ages 4-18), near Warsaw, Mo. Medical Care The Mission’s medical clinic offers free medical care to men, women and families, including an infirmary for homeless men recovering from an illness or injury. The clinic is open M-Fri 10 am to 3 pm. Special arrangements for other times may be available. To get medical care, please call at 816-474-9380 ext. 1465.
Community Assistance If you need food, clothing, school supplies, household items, help paying utility bills, case management, help finding affordable housing, life skills classes, or services for homebound elderly and disabled people, call 816-483-7685 ext. 1444.
Lifestyle Change The Mission has several long-term recovery programs that can provide a doorway of opportunity if you are ready to tackle hard issues in your life, such as drug or alcohol addiction. Programs are available in the city for men, women and families, and for men at the Opportunity Farm in Warsaw, Mo. Call 816-474-9380 for information.
