On November 21st The Kansas City Royals served a Thanksgiving feast to 250 guests at the Men’s Center and 100 guests at Family Center.
For the third consecutive year the Kansas City Royals reached out to area families in need during the holiday season by volunteering at the Mission. Royals Hall of Fame second baseman Frank White and outfielder David DeJesus joined senior vice president-baseball operations/general manager Dayton Moore and senior vice president-business operations Kevin Uhlich as well as other Royals associates in serving a Thanksgiving feast to guests at City Union Mission's two area facilities.

White and Moore helped serve guests at the Family Center, while DeJesus and Uhlich served meals to guests from the Men's Center.

Pat Brodnax, Core Volunteer Administrator, says, “When people come here they gain first hand knowledge of the many faces of homelessness. They discover there’s a whole lot more going on here than simply providing a meal and a place to sleep. Our guests benefit from experiencing the fellowship and compassion. For some it may be the first time they have been treated with dignity.”
