Hays Brightens up the New Life Center
Employees make a difference through volunteering
June 23, 2008

"We appreciate you allowing Hays Companies to spend time at City Union Mission," said Jim Koenigsdorf Vice President of Hays Companies. "We all came away with far more benefit than we brought."

Employees from Hays Companies of Kansas City lent their time, labor and support to the New Life Center at City Union Mission. After receiving a tour and information about City Union Mission they got to work painting and brightening up the walls of the New Life Center.

The employees were grateful for this opportunity to make a difference. While many of the employees had a general idea of the services provided by City Union Mission they said "we were not aware of the extent of the benefits your agency brings to the community." While on the tour of the building this became personal to them as they learned about one of the residents and her success story while staying at City Union Mission and joining the New Life Program. This resident has been able to overcome the hurdles of abuse and homelessness, obtain her GED and secure a full time job.

Every person who passes through the doors of City Union Mission has a unique story to tell - every man, every woman, and every child. Click here to read more stories that may change the way you view homelessness forever.

"City Union Mission is grateful for our friends at Hays Companies," said Shawna Ketter, Corporate Relations Specialist. "We cannot thank them enough for their partnership and becoming Champions for Hope. We couldn't provide the services that we do to our community if we didn't have such great business partners."
