News at City Union Mission

Serving Together to Transform Lives
April 16, 2008

City Union Mission held the First Annual CORE Volunteer Celebration on Friday, March 14, 2008, at Colonial Presbyterian’s Youth Building, located in KCMO.  The theme for the event was, “Serving Together to Transform Lives,” from Ephesians 4:11-13.  To find out more about what CORE volunteers do and existing volunteer opportunities, please click here.

The event honored the many volunteers who faithfully serve City Union Mission as CORE volunteers.  45 individuals representing the many businesses, churches, organizations, and schools each received a commemorative plaque.

Pat Brodnax, CORE Volunteer Administrator, had this to say, “We could not provide the services, nor operate the facilities we have, were it not for the vast number of volunteers that willingly give of their time.  Thank you is not enough, but I truly hope and pray that each and every one of you feel the love that I have in my heart for you.”

Special thanks to Zarda’s Bar-B-Que, Party Warehouse in Brookside, Missouri, MiMi’s CaféParisi Artisan Coffee3 Women and an Oven, and T.G.I. Friday’s for a marvelous dinner and evening.
