Barkley has a Heart for the Homeless
Local Ad Agency Gives Back in a Big Way
March 03, 2008

Barkley, a employee-owned advertising agency headquartered in Kansas City gives back to their own community by partnering with City Union Mission! During the month of January they participated in a Knit-A-Thon to benefit City Union Mission and then on February 14th they made a donation for food and Barkley employees served lunch at the Men's Center and Family Shelter.

"Barkley supplied the yarn and any interested employees were encouraged to knit scarves, hats and mittens to give warmth to Kansas City's underprivileged." said Jennifer Jacquinot, Designer for Barkley and coordinator of the Knit-A-Thon. "We had 51 knitters with 35 brand new to knitting. Our company had such a good time; it was such a pleasure to work with City Union Mission and give back."

"When they contacted me to let me know that they would be coordinating a Knit-A-Thon I was excited about this unique idea. Then I got a call several weeks later letting me know that they  wanted to pay for lunch and serve at the Men's Center and Family Shelter," said Shawna Ketter, Corporate Relations Specialist. "We are grateful for Barkley's partnership and the impact that they have made by providing basic necessities of clothing and food for those that are poor and homeless."

The employees from Barkley who spent time knitting and serving a meal were a true blessing to many men, women and children in need. We look forward to a continued partnership with Barkley and appreciate their willingness to make an impact in their own community.
