(Kansas City, Mo. November, 2007) On November 14th the Royals Charities, the Charitable arm of the Kansas City Royals, will be serving a Thanksgiving feast to 250 guests at City Union Mission Men’s Center and 100 guests at City Union Mission’s Family Center.
“This is an excellent opportunity for both our guests and for the Royals,” says Pat Brodnax, Volunteer Specialist with City Union Mission. “When people come down here they gain first hand knowledge of the many faces of homelessness. They also discover that there’s a whole lot more going on here than simply providing a meal and a place to sleep. Our guests benefit from experiencing the fellowship and compassion. For some it may be the first time they have been treated with dignity.”
Betty Kaegel, Director of Community Outreach said, "We decided to get involved with City Union Mission because it is a bridge to new life. Their doors are always open to poor, homeless, disadvantaged men, women, and families with children 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Royals outfielder David DeJesus and Kansas City Royals Hall of Famer Frank White with his wife, Teresa, are scheduled to join us there.”
