Praise God for Gashland Presbyterian Church! They are a vital “piece of the puzzle” that helps put lives back together of those that are poor and homeless here in the urban core of Kansas City. “We just finished collecting canned goods through the Trick or Treat So Other’s Can Eat Drive”, said Joyce Grady, a Deacon at Gashland Presbyterian Church. “We are hoping to have collected close to 300 cans for that cause!”
Joyce and others from Gashland will be volunteering at their local Hy-Vee to help promote the Stuff A Truck event to bring in donations that will go to buy groceries at cost for the shelter’s. Members of their congregation will also be involved in the December 1st Prescence of Love event . This event is a special time where you can bring unwrapped gifts for income-qualified families to "shop" for free Christmas gifts for each of their family members and while you are there you get to take a tour of the family center and enjoy live Christmas music. In addition, they we will have a Christmas tree up to collect boy’s and girls underwear.
Not only are they involved during the Christmas Season, but they provide peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every month and cakes for the Christian Life Program. They have responded to some of our most immediate needs at the Mission this Christmas Season and throughout the year. We are grateful for the involvement of Gashland Presbyterian Church in helping City Union Mission to reach the poor and homeless, here in Kansas City, for God’s Kingdom.
