On October 1st the virtual Celebrate Hope Banquet: Giving Hands Give Hope, kicked off City Union Mission’s Celebrate Hope Campaign, an effort to raise $3.5 million, half this years’ budget. The campaign ends January 31, 2008.  

Dan Doty, Executive Director said, “Donors were telling us that they didn’t need another banquet to go to.  They preferred more of their funds to go towards feeding the poor & homeless, rather than towards the escalating costs of hotel and speaker.  Now this is truly a Banquet for the poor & homeless!  This year we raised $51,000 before the start date, so are really excited that this concept is catching on.  Frankly we are always amazed and grateful for the generosity of people in Kansas City.  Every year they prove their heart for the less fortunate.”

The almost $58,000 raised includes actual funds and pledges.  You can still view the Celebrate Hope Web Banquet by clicking here. Then just click on the ministry areas you are interested in viewing.  Each day a different ministry was highlighted, including testimonies, ministry updates, award recipients, and a list of what you can still do to make a difference.

Funds received during CELEBRATE HOPE will assist City Union Mission in providing food, shelter, case management, counseling, education, and training to homeless and poor men, women, and children 365 days a year.
