Frank Mance, Supervisor of City Union Mission’s Warehouse operations reported the theft. “Copper tubing was stolen from our refrigerator/freezer units located outside our Warehouse on 10th and Troost last night, or early this morning. It looked like whoever took the tubing got in by pushing or pulling our fence back. We hope to be able to salvage what is in the freezers, but we’ll have to wait to see what we can save from the refrigerators.”
Jon Capp, Associate Executive Director of Physical Operations said, “This kind of thing is always distressing. The cost of replacing the copper tubing and coolant could run into thousands of dollars. We don’t know yet the full extent of the damage. And because it’s very hot we might not get this fixed till later on in the day. We’ll have to wait to be able to put a total cost on this loss.”
“This comes at a particularly bad time as temperatures are expected to climb to 102 today. Our clients and their families depend upon City Union Mission to provide food and shelter, especially during the more dangerous times of year, as we are experiencing right now. Any help Kansas Citians can provide would be so greatly appreciated,” said Dan Doty, Executive Director.
“These unexpected additional expenses are always a strain on our budget,” reported Dennis Chapman, Associate Executive Director of Development. You can call 816-329-1475 to donate, or click here. Enter A/C theft in the comments box. |
