Christian Life Program Will Miss Ted Taylor
Ted was a man for the times and finished well
August 02, 2007

In the wee hours of the morning of July 31, 2007, Theodore N. "Ted" Taylor, Christian Life Program Administrator for City Union Mission, passed over to eternal life. He is survived by his wife, Lynn, sons, Doug and Michael, and grandchildren, Andrew, Woodrow, Krystal, Dalton, Tanner, Rachel and Porter; brothers, Jim and Frank Taylor; sisters, Leona Jackson, Evelyn Barnes and Judy Sirmons and many nieces and nephews.

Ted came to City Union Mission in January of 2001. Dan Doty, Executive Director recalls:

As a graduate of Calvary Bible College, with a Masters Degree in Biblical Studies, as well as his studies at the Dallas Theological Seminary, Ted brought a more serious Bible study element to the Christian Life Program. We've always had that, but with his educational background as the Christian Life Program Administrator, Ted brought a Bible college level of training to our program, which in turn brought a higher level of seriousness on the part of the men on this intensive program. Ted was a gentle, passionate, and caring member of our staff. He leaves a large hole that will not be easily filled. Just think ... Ted Taylor is at this very moment experiencing what every Christian longs for ... to stand in the actual presence of the Triune God worshiping and rejoicing!

Long time friend and Associate, Lee Berns, said, “He was a man of God who loved his Lord, loved the word, and finished well.”

Lorraine Minor, Associate Executive Director of Programs and Administration, said:

Ted knew the Lord prepared him specifically for the ministry he had at City Union Mission. He was loved and respected by the many men who sat under his tutelage. He taught for understanding and was known to frequently ask, “Am I making any sense?” We will greatly miss him.

Ted was especially looking forward to the completion of a new 30,000 sq-ft-facility to address the increasing need for services funded through the Capital Campaign started in 2006.

It was a heart-breaking fact to him that every week men are being turned away from the Christian Life Program due to a lack of space. This new facility will double capacity from 50 to 100 men that can benefit from this long-term recovery program.

Memorial contributions can be made by mail to City Union Mission, 1100 East 11th, Kansas City, MO 64106, or onlline by clicking here.
