Camp CUMCITO Welcomes Teen Boys This Week
Additional volunteer cabin counselor enables all that signed up to attend
July 30, 2007

Teen Boys’ camp is off and running.

The first thing on the agenda was lunch – the first of many fabulous meals this week. The campers were very quiet over lunch, but that didn’t last long. Once they reached the chapel, they were greeted by familiar camp music and the walls began to fall. Campers and counselors alike were eager to find out who would be in their family for the week. The afternoon was spent swimming, playing basketball or football, and starting work on their grand prix car in crafts.

At 5:30PM, the entire camp headed off to the lake area for the night. Dinner over the fire, setting up tents, and playing at the lake provided lots of fun for all. The evening concluded with s’mores and a campfire service led by Lee Berns. Lee will be challenging the boys to be James 1:25 men this week.

Praise

  • God provided the additional counselor we needed to accept all of the campers this week. One of the counselors from last week called on Saturday evening to let us know he was able to get off work and was eager to come back down for another week as a cabin counselor.
  • Two other young men from Olathe were able to join our staff to fill a couple of the support positions. Our only remaining unfilled position was Janitor and the farm staff was able to provide someone to cover some of that position.
  • There were storms in the area all day and they all went around Warsaw. It looks like the boys will be able to stay out all night at the lake.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for the campers and staff on Tuesday after camping out Monday night. The day will be long for everyone.
  • Pray for the people that are in supervisory roles for the first time at Teen Boys’ camp.
  • Pray for the summer staff and other volunteers that have served multiple weeks.
