(Kansas City, Mo. 2006) On November 9th, Royals Charities, the charitable arm of the Kansas City Royals, served a Thanksgiving feast to almost 185 guests at City Union Mission Men’s Center and about 40 guests at City Union Mission’s Family Center.
Betty Kaegel, Director of Royals Charities, spoke briefly at the men’s center, "It is an honor to serve you today, and to be part of helping City Union Mission be the bridge to new life for poor, homeless, disadvantaged men, women, and families with children."
Royals shortstop Andres Blanco said that he was impressed by all that City Union Mission does. "It is so much more than I have seen before." Royals Hall of Fame member, Frank White agrees, "I've learned a lot in my short time here today. I've been a donor, but it is good to come visit. It is funny how things come full circle. I grew up not too far from here. It is good to reconnect."
Robert Strong, Director of Family Ministries, and Lee Berns, Director of Men’s Ministries said that all the guests were very excited about them coming. "Frank White and Andres Blanco graciously allowed their pictures to be taken with several of our guests. Men and women stood a little taller having experienced fellowship with the Royals Charities. You never know what will move a person to seek a better life. Seeds were planted. We are so glad that Royals Charities came!" |
