What is a gift annuity?
It’s an arrangement under which you make a contribution to City Union Mission and, in turn, receive guaranteed payments for life. It’s a way of giving that allows you to make a substantial gift, even though you may need ongoing income from your assets.
What are the benefits of a gift annuity?
When you make a contribution to City Union Mission for a gift annuity, a portion of the payment will be tax free, the annuity rate is often higher than the interest paid on current fixed investments, and you’ll save on the capital gains taxes on appreciated assets.
How do gift annuities work?
Most are funded with cash or listed securities. When you contribute securities, the annuity payments made to you will remain fixed (and will likely exceed the dividends you were receiving). City Union Mission invests and manages your contribution, and at the end of your life, the remainder is available to the Mission to help the poor and homeless.
