Compassion in Action - Kirk Bodendistal
Boy Scout Kirk Bodendistal has likely spent some chilly nights camping out with Troop 186. But this 8th grader says he still can’t imagine what it would be like to be homeless, sleeping out every night.
As part of his Eagle Scout project, Kirk wanted to collect 100 hygiene kits for our Men’s Shelter. He set up a table at K-Mart, Sam’s Club and his church, asking folks to donate funds or items for the kits.
Kirk collected a whopping 104 hygiene kits, plus 3,116 additional hygiene items, $1,481.06 in donations and a $1,000 matching gift from Sam’s Club.
It made me feel good to do something to help a lot of people, Kirk says. I think the Mission is a good place.
