Craft Time is a Favorite of Campers

"The emphasis at camp is on walking with Christ and living an example for the kids," says Ron English, who has spent four years as volunteer craft director and lifeguard at teen boys camp.

Craft time is a favorite of campers.

So many [of the boys] come from homes where there are no boundaries. We try to instill rules and regulations that teach the boys. We pray before class. You never know what effect you might have on one person's life."

The children come from all different backgrounds - with unique personal and familial issues - so they learn from each other, too.

Ron remembers a camper who was mentally challenged and teased by some of the other boys during a sporting game. Yet, despite the teasing, when the game was over, this young man shook hands with the other boys, congratulating them on their victory. "His good sportsmanship really impressed the boys who were making fun of him!"

Ron and other members of Fellowship Baptist Church are faithful volunteers in our camp program. "Every once in a while you are challenged with these boys," Ron continues. "But I love coming back and spending time with them. This is such a great ministry."
