Bud and Jan Frye: Cheerful Givers
Compassion in Action
Jan Frye has been a faithful volunteer at the Mission’s Family Center for more than 25 years, teaching money management and discipleship, interviewing families seeking community assistance and speaking in the community about our ministry.
Her husband, Bud, joined her as a volunteer after his retirement.
Over the years, Bud and Jan have also given financially to the Mission. Then, God lead this compassionate couple to the next level of commitment.
Working in partnership with the Servant Christian Community Foundation (SCCF), Bud and Jan set up the Frye Family Foundation and named City Union Mission a recipient of a portion of the funds.
“We felt the Lord had blessed us with all we needed,” Jan shares. “And He had always shown me the verses about … when you are helping the poor, you are helping me. We give to the Lord because we love Him.”
For the Fryes, setting up a family foundation was easy and convenient. They simply put their desired dollar amount into a fund, determined which organizations they wanted to support, then SCCF manages and distributes the monies accordingly.
“It is a real privilege to be able to give to City Union Mission,” Jan says.
