Opportunities to Care at Christmas
- Assist clients as they “shop” for gifts for loved ones in our Christmas Store.
- Make the Mission merry by donating Christmas decorations and/or helping to decorate our shelters for the season.
- Brighten the holidays for homeless men by providing delicious treats and beverages, then serving them in our Day Room between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- Feed the homeless in our Men’s Shelter or Family Shelter by preparing and serving a meal.
- Host a Christmas gift party to benefit the Mission. Ask guests to bring items from our Christmas Urgent Needs lists on page 19 or to make financial donations to the Mission.
- Adopt a family for Christmas, blessing them with gifts, holiday food and your friendship.
- Stock the Christmas Store by donating gift items like toys, small electronics and clothing.
- Treat a teen in our Vanderberg Youth Center with a special Christmas gift through our Share-a-Gift program. Purchase gift items from our Men’s, Women’s or Children’s Urgent Needs list on page 18. When you deliver the gifts, be sure to tour our shelters! (Please call two weeks ahead to schedule a tour.)
- Spread the joy all year long by organizing one of our year-round drives at your office, church or civic club. See page 8 for a few of our year-round drives or log onto www.cityunionmission.org for a complete list of drives.
- Instead of exchanging gifts with extended relatives or work associates, each of you make a donation to City Union Mission.
- Put up a gift tree at your office or church and decorate it with items from our Christmas Urgent Needs lists on page18. Ask folks to select items to donate.
- Make a special donation to our Celebrate Hope holiday campaign.
- Serve as an office assistant during the hectic holiday season.
- Provide fun family activities New Year’s Even at the Family Shelter.
- Greet guests and accept donations at our Men’s Center during November and December
