Celebrate Hope 2006

Reach Out to K.C.’s Poor and Homeless

City Union Mission’s Annual Holiday Campaign

Campaign Goal: $3 million
Campaign Schedule: Oct. 1, 2006 - Jan. 15, 2007

During Celebrate Hope, our annual holiday fund-raising campaign, we must raise half our yearly operating budget so we can provide our life-saving ministry to those in need.

"The campaign allows us to know going into the months when we have the most calls for service with a better handle on how we’re going to pay for things," explains Dennis Chapman, Director of Development.  "It allows us to focus in on what programs will be able to flourish and those we will need to do without until the money comes in."

Your gift to the Celebrate Hope campaign will help us provide rescue services, like emergency shelter for men, women and children, recovery programs for men and women, and year-round youth programs and community assistance.

Your Gift Opens Doors
"I dropped out of school at age 16, so getting my GED was one of my biggest accomplishments," one shelter guest wrote. "I wanted to be a role model to my children and others. As soon as I opened the envelope and saw the golden seal, my face lit up with joy. I give all my thanks to God and the City Union Mission for helping me."

Your Gift Restores
Russell, who recently participated in the Mission’s RECON ministry, wrote to tell us that he’s moved to Arizona to be with his children. There, he completed trade school and is zeroing in on a job.

Your Gift Shelters
A former Family Center guest called our Hotline for the Homeless, a free service run by City Union Mission that helps the homeless find available shelter space, to thank us for the difference we made in her life. Here, she and her children received the compassionate care they needed to get on their feet once again.
