Luke 14:12-14

And He also went on to say to the one who had invited Him, "When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, otherwise they may also invite you in return and that will be your repayment. But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.

Web Banquet

Like last year, this year's Celebrate Hope campaign kicked off with a virtual web banquet. A web banquet is a unique way to share what is happening at City Union Mission without the escalating costs of hosting a banquet at an area hotel. We want to be able to use all the resources God provides to the fullest. Banquet participants still get the same quality content as in past banquets: testimonies, ministry updates, and award recipients, but without the added expense of renting a location, and the associated speaker and audio-visual costs.

This years banquet spans seven days. Each day focuses on a particular aspect of City Union Mission's ministry to the poor and homeless of Kansas City.

Capital Campaign

We are in the final stages of the fund raising for the Building the Walls that Rebuild Lives campaign. It is so exciting to have hundreds of friends giving  generously to this project.

The name for this campaign comes from the Old Testament Book of Nehemiah. In it, Nehemiah asks his employer, King Artaxerxes, to return to the land of his father and grandfathers to help rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Despite doubt and opposition, family after family joined Nehemiah to rebuild portions of the walls and the gates that joined them.

Men's Ministry

200-300 men participate daily in the Men’s Ministries. It is incredible to know that God has interjected those men into our various programs. We are honored to be here to do His will with them, and we are all about presenting our Wonderful Savior as the God who is reaching out to them.

This past year, we were deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Ted Taylor, Christian Life Program Administrator. His successor, Greg Gay, while new to the position of Christian Life Program Administrator, is not new to City Union Mission.

Women's & Family Ministry

Now remains faith, hope, love, forgiveness and acceptance. These are the virtues that we meet and greet every client that comes to City Union Mission Family Center for shelter.

Single ladies, single moms with children, custodial dads, couples with children and couples with no children find themselves homeless for a variety of reason. They can enter the shelter of City Union Mission Family Center and be accepted and find help, hope and refuge from life circumstances.

Youth Ministry

A safe place - with some fun along the way: That's what we hope the Vanderberg Youth Center is to those who come. Here, by the grace of God, we empower kids to grow like Jesus grew - in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men.

And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Luke 2:52 NAS

Through after-school programs, Shelter outreaches, camp ministries, and discipleship we share the love of God with the young ones who find themselves poor or homeless in Kansas City.

Lots of things go on here and there are lots of stories to tell.

Camp CUMCITO

Camp CUMCITO crosses the line. We provide a camp experience for anyone who is poor, not just those who are homeless. Especially in our work with children, we consider this a preventive measure in the lives of our clients. We desire to instill the lessons and introduce them to Christ while they are young and help them avoid the necessity of coming through our shelter doors in the years to come.
