Hotline for the Homeless

City Union Mission's hotline provides a link between emergency shelters and the homeless. With one call to (816) 474-4599, homeless persons can be directed to a Kansas City shelter with available bed space. The following statistics represent calls from homeless families and single women to the hotline in 2007.

**Though only one person makes the call, often this person represents several family members. A person may call the hotline several times during the year. The number of unduplicated calls in 2006 was 2,882.

*** People may not be placed in shelter for a variety of reasons including 1) shelter isn't needed immediately, 2) individuals made other arrangements, 3) adequate space was not available at the time.
